Taken Away לֻקָּ֔ח (luqqāch)

Cut Off from the Land of the Living 

נִגְזַר֙ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ חַיִּ֔ים (nigzar mē⁾eretz chayyīm)

“By oppression and judgment 

He was taken away; 

and as for His generation, 

who considered that 

He was cut off out of the land of the living 

for the transgression of my people, 

to whom the stroke was due?” 

(Isa. 53:8).

מֵעֹ֤צֶר וּמִמִּשְׁפָּט֙ לֻקָּ֔ח וְאֶת־דּוֹר֖וֹ מִ֣י יְשׂוֹחֵ֑חַ כִּ֤י 

נִגְזַר֙ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ חַיִּ֔ים מִפֶּ֥שַׁע עַמִּ֖י נֶ֥גַע לָֽמוֹ׃

“But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed” (Isa. 53:5).

“Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, and He will divide the booty with the strong; because He poured out Himself to death, and was numbered with the transgressors; yet He Himself bore the sin of many, and interceded for the transgressors” (Isa. 53:12).

“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures”(1Cor. 15:3-4).

“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2Cor. 5:21).

“Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate.  So, let us go out to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach. For here we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking the city which is to come” (Heb. 13:12-13).

(Is. 53:5 (BHS וְהוּא֙ מְחֹלָ֣ל מִפְּשָׁעֵ֔נוּ מְדֻכָּ֖א מֵעֲוֹנֹתֵ֑ינוּ מוּסַ֤ר שְׁלוֹמֵ֙נוּ֙ עָלָ֔יו וּבַחֲבֻרָת֖וֹ נִרְפָּא־לָֽנוּ׃

Is. 53:12 לָכֵ֞ן אֲחַלֶּק־ל֣וֹ בָרַבִּ֗ים וְאֶת־עֲצוּמִים֮ יְחַלֵּ֣ק שָׁלָל֒ תַּ֗חַת אֲשֶׁ֨ר הֶעֱרָ֤ה לַמָּ֙וֶת֙ נַפְשׁ֔וֹ וְאֶת־פֹּשְׁעִ֖ים נִמְנָ֑ה וְהוּא֙ חֵטְא־רַבִּ֣ים נָשָׂ֔א וְלַפֹּשְׁעִ֖ים יַפְגִּֽיעַ׃ ס

(1Cor. 15:3 (MHNT מָסַרְתִּי לָכֶם בָּרֹאשׁ וּבָרִאשׁוֹנָה מַה שֶּׁגַּם קִבַּלְתִּי, שֶׁהַמָּשִׁיחַ מֵת בְּעַד חֲטָאֵינוּ, לְפִי הַכְּתוּבִים;  ‎4‏ נִקְבַּר וְקָם לִתְחִיָּה בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁי, לְפִי הַכְּתוּבִים; 

‎2Cor. 5:21‏ אֶת זֶה אֲשֶׁר לֹא יָדַע חַטָּאת עָשָׂה לְחַטָּאת בַּעֲדֵנוּ, כְּדֵי שֶׁאָנוּ נִלְבַּשׁ אֶת הַצְּדָקָה שֶׁל אֱלֹהִים בּוֹ. 

‎Heb. 13:12‏ לָכֵן גַּם יֵשׁוּעַ, כְּדֵי לְקַדֵּשׁ אֶת הָעָם בְּדָמוֹ, סָבַל מִחוּץ לַשַּׁעַר.  ‎13‏ עַל כֵּן נֵצֵא נָא אֵלָיו אֶל מִחוּץ לַמַּחֲנֶה וְנִשָׂא אֶת חֶרְפָּתוֹ;
