John 20:30
Therefore
many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which
are not written in this book; 31 but these
have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of
God; and that believing you may have life in His name.
What are not written in this book?
“Therefore many other signs
Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in
this book” (John 20:30).
- How is this reiterated in John 21:25?
“Now there are also many other
things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the
world itself could not contain the books that would be written” (John 21:25).
Why have these been written?
“but these have been written
so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that
believing you may have life in His name” (John 20:31).
- What are you to believe?
“…that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of
God…” (John 20:31).
- What may whoever believes in Him have?
John
3:14 And
as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be
lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
- What is the result of unbelief in Jesus?
John
8:24 “Therefore I said to you that you will
die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”
Father,
You are true. Your will is
for us to believe in Your Son Whom You sent to take away the sins of the world.
For You so loved the world, that You gave Your only Son, that whoever believes
in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For You did not send Your Son
into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved
through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not
believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the
only Son of God. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
How may you have life in His name?
“…that believing you may have
life in His name” (John 20:31).
