Revelation 5:11-14 Prelude of Praise

Rev. 5:11   Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands,  12 saying with a loud voice,
            “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.”
13 And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying,
            “To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.”

14 And the four living creatures kept saying, “Amen.” And the elders fell down and worshiped.
Prayer and Bible Expo

What does John hear? How many angels does John see?  (5:11)
§  “. . . heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders” (5:11).
§  “. . . myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands” (5:11).
§  Dan. 7:9  “I kept looking
   Until thrones were set up,
   And the Ancient of Days took His seat;
   His vesture was like white snow
   And the hair of His head like pure wool.
   His throne was ablaze with flames,
   Its wheels were a burning fire.
  10     “A river of fire was flowing
   And coming out from before Him;
   Thousands upon thousands were attending Him,
   And myriads upon myriads were standing before Him;
   The court sat,
And the books were opened.

What are the many angels saying with a loud voice? (5:12)
“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing” (5:12).
§  Dan. 7:13       “I kept looking in the night visions,
       And behold, with the clouds of heaven
       One like a Son of Man was coming,
       And He came up to the Ancient of Days
       And was presented before Him.
14    “And to Him was given dominion,
       Glory and a kingdom,
       That all the peoples, nations and men of every language
       Might serve Him.
       His dominion is an everlasting dominion
       Which will not pass away;
       And His kingdom is one which will not be destroyed.

What does John hear every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, saying? (5:13)
“. . . To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever” (5:13).

Who is being praised by every created thing? (5:13)
§  “To Him who sits on the throne” (Yahweh) (5:13)
and
§  “the Lamb” (Jesus) (5:13).

What do the four living creatures keep saying? How do the elders respond? (5:14)
§  “Amen” (5:14).
§  “And the elders fell down and worshiped” (5:14).

What do you learn about God in Rev 5:11-14?
Yahweh and Jesus, to Whom is blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever, will be praised by every created thing.

How could this truth transform your life?
Acknowledge daily the blessing, honor, glory, and dominion of Yahweh and Jesus.

Write a prayer response to Revelation 4-5:
Yahweh, Adonai, LORD God, the Almighty, Ancient of Days, Eternal God, Creator, the One Who was and Who is and Who is to come, Mighty King on the throne attended by many angels, myriads of myriads, thousands of thousands. You made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of water, and all that is within them. You created all things, and because of Your will, they existed and were created. Every created thing will bow to You, and every tongue shall give praise to You. Abba, Father, You are Spirit, and those who worship You must worship in spirit and truth. You are seeking such worshipers who will worship You in spirit and truth. May grace and peace be multiplied to many in the knowledge of You and of Jesus our Lord. May You anoint the lips of Your worshipers with Spirit-filled praise that You may be magnified in song and thanksgiving. To You, Father, and to Jesus Messiah, Son of God, Son of Man, Lamb of God, Lion of Judah, Slain Savior and Risen Lord, be blessing, honor, glory, and dominion, forever and ever. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
