Rev.
6:1
Then I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard
one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder,
“Come.” 2 I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he
who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out
conquering and to conquer.

Who breaks open the first seal? (6:1)
(Context) What are the seven seals? (5:1)
§ The Lamb (6:1).
§ “I saw in the
right hand of Him who sat on the throne a book written inside and on the back,
sealed up with seven seals” (5:1).
Who speaks when the first seal is opened?
What does it say?
§ One of the four living creatures (6:1).
§ “Come” (6:1).
What does John see? What does the rider have?
What is given to him? What does he do?
§ A white horse (6:2).
§ He who sat on it had a bow (6:2).
§ A crown was given to him (6:2).
§ He went out conquering and to conquer
(6:2).
What impresses you about the first seal?
The rider
is unidentified. Since Jesus the Messiah does not return until Revelation 19,
the rider is not Jesus. The first seal is likely introducing the anti-Christ,
who precedes Jesus on the scene of the Tribulation. The anti-Christ is given
temporary power to go out and conquer until Jesus returns to defeat the
nations, deliver Jerusalem, and dunk alive the beast and the false prophet into
the lake of fire which burns with brimstone.
Father,
When the kings
of the earth take their stand and the rulers take counsel together against You
and against Your Messiah, You, the One sitting upon the throne in heaven,
laugh, and the Lord scoffs at them. Neither You nor Your King can be thwarted. Though
the enemy wars against You and against Your Anointed, You prevail. For You have
power to exalt, and You have power to depose. You use both the good and the bad
to accomplish Your kingdom purposes. For You cause all things to work together
for the good of those who love You, to those who are called according to Your purpose. Though judgment is coming for those who rebel against You and Jesus,
joy will come with the morning mist for Your redeemed, all Whom You have
gathered for Your renown. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
