Who is at hand?
“the one who betrays Me”
(14:42)
ὁ παραδιδούς (Masculine
Nominative Singular Present Active Participle)
While Jesus was previously eating the Passover with
the twelve disciples in the Upper Room, what had He foretold about the one to betray Him?
“As they were reclining at
the table and eating, Jesus said, ‘Truly I say to you that one of you will
betray Me—one who is eating with Me” (14:18).
“He said to them, ‘It is one
of the twelve, one who dips with Me in the bowl'” (14:20).
“And they were very sorrowful
and began to say to him one after another, ‘Is it I, Lord?’” He answered, ‘He
who has dipped his hand in the dish with me will betray me” (Matthew 26:
22-23).
Who would be the one of the twelve to betray Jesus?
“Judas, who would betray him,
answered, ‘Is it I, Rabbi?’ He said to him, ‘You have said so’” (Matthew
26:25).
What had Jesus said about the consequence of betrayal
for that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed?
“For the Son of Man is to go
just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is
betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born” (14:21).
Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is
and is to come (Rev 4:8b). Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory
and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they existed
and were created (Rev 4:11).
Glory to You, El Elyon, our Creator King. You are the One True God of the
Bible, and You are true. Your Word is true. All that You plan, You do. And all that You do is just and right. And I
am sure of this, that He who began a good work in us will bring it to
completion at the day of Jesus Christ (Phil 1:6). Blessed is He Who comes in
the Name of the LORD. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
