Mark 15:39-41 When the centurion, who was standing right in front of Him, saw the way He breathed His last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!” There were also some women looking on from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the Less and Joses, and Salome. When He was in Galilee, they used to follow Him and minister to Him; and there were many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem.

·      Who else in Mark reveals Jesus as the Son of God?

o  Mark 1:11 and a voice came out of the heavens: “ You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.”

o  Mark 3:11 Whenever the unclean spirits saw Him, they would fall down before Him and shout, “You are  the Son of God!”

o  Mark 5:7 and shouting with a loud voice, he said, “What business do we have with each other, Jesus,  Son of  the Most High God? I implore You by God, do not torment me!”

o  Mark 9:7 Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and  a voice came out of the cloud, “ This is My beloved Son, listen to Him!”

o  Mark 12:6 “He had one more to send, a beloved son; he sent him last of all to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’

o  Mark 13:32 But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.

o  Mark 14:61  But He kept silent and did not answer.  Again the high priest was questioning Him, and  saying to Him, “Are You  the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?  62 And Jesus said, “I am; and you shall see THE SON OF MAN SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF POWER, and  COMING WITH THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN.”

·      How does Yahweh refer to the Messiah in Psalm 2:7?
o  “I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, ‘You are my Son; today I have begotten you” (Psalm 2:7).

“formula of adoption” (HALOT, 138).

o  How does Acts 13:32-33 clarify?
§  And we preach to you the good news of the promise made to the fathers, that God has fulfilled this promise to our children in that He raised up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm, ‘YOU ARE MY SON; TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU’” (Acts 13:32-33).

Father,
Glory to You for revealing the Messiah, the Son of God and Son of Man. Your glory is revealed in the Person and work of Your Beloved Son, Yeshua the Messiah. For the redemption of Your people was accomplished just as You revealed through the prophets of old. You are the Covenant God of Israel, ever faithful. Not one of Your everlasting promises has failed. All Your promises find their ‘Yes’ in Yeshua.  You alone have power to speak prophecy into existence and fulfill it, just as it was written. The Messiah suffered as He bore the iniquities of Your people and accomplished the work of redemption as the Lamb of God, Who came to take away the sins of the world. By His wounds we are healed. When the work of redemption was complete, Jesus declared, “It is finished” and gave up His Spirit. Yet just as You promised and Yeshua foretold, You raised Him from the dead on the third day. And the apostles and over 500 witnesses saw Him in the forty days following His resurrection.

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of Your grace. For we were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from our futile way of life inherited from our forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but appeared in these last times for our sake, who through Him are believers in You, Who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that our faith and hope are in You. Glory to You and to Yeshua, Son of God and Son of Man, for so great a salvation. Yeshua testified that He is the first and the last, and the living One; and He was dead, and now He is alive forevermore. He has the keys of death and of Hades. All who believe in Jesus, being baptized into His death and raised by the power of His resurrection, are born again into the living hope. You have given us eternal life, and this life is in Your Son. May the Holy Spirit, by whom we were sealed for the day of redemption, minister gloriously in our midst as You bring many sons and daughters to glory, being justified as a gift by Your grace through the redemption which is in Messiah Yeshua. May we call upon You, Abba Father, marveling as those who beheld Your glory in the face of Your Beloved Son, worshipping in Spirit and truth. In Yeshua’s Name, Amen.
