Isaiah 55:3-5 (8^th c. BC)

Witness עֵ֥ד (⁽ēd) Leader נָגִ֥יד (nagīd) 

Commander מְצַוֵּ֖ה (mǝtzawwē)

“Incline your ear and come to Me. 

Listen, that you may live; 

and I will make 

an everlasting covenant with you, 

according to the faithful mercies 

shown to David. 

Behold, I have made him 

a witness to the peoples, 

a leader 

and commander for the peoples. 

Behold, you will call a nation you do not know, and a nation which knows you not will run to you, because of the LORD your God, even the Holy One of Israel; for He has glorified you” 

(Isa. 55:3-5).

‏הַטּ֤וּ אָזְנְכֶם֙ וּלְכ֣וּ אֵלַ֔י שִׁמְע֖וּ וּתְחִ֣י נַפְשְׁכֶ֑ם וְאֶכְרְתָ֤ה לָכֶם֙ בְּרִ֣ית עוֹלָ֔ם חַֽסְדֵ֥י דָוִ֖ד הַנֶּאֱמָנִֽים׃ ‎‏ הֵ֛ן עֵ֥ד לְאוּמִּ֖ים נְתַתִּ֑יו נָגִ֥יד וּמְצַוֵּ֖ה לְאֻמִּֽים׃ ‎ הֵ֣ן גּ֤וֹי לֹֽא־תֵדַע֙ תִּקְרָ֔א וְג֥וֹי לֹֽא־יְדָע֖וּךָ אֵלֶ֣יךָ יָר֑וּצוּ לְמַ֙עַן֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ וְלִקְד֥וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל כִּ֥י פֵאֲרָֽךְ׃ ס

“When your days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever . . . Your house and your kingdom shall endure before Me forever; your throne shall be established forever” (Davidic Covenant, 2 Sam. 7:12-16).

“Therefore Pilate said to Him, ‘So You are a king?’ Jesus answered, ‘You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice’” (John 18:37).

“And we preach to you the good news of the promise made to the fathers, that God has fulfilled this promise to our children in that He raised up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm, ‘YOU ARE MY SON; TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU.’ As for the fact that He raised Him up from the dead, no longer to return to decay, He has spoken in this way: ‘I WILL GIVE YOU THE HOLY and SURE blessings OF DAVID’”

“For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings” (Heb. 2:10).

“And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood” (Rev. 1:5).

(John 18:37 (MHNT אָמַר לוֹ פִּילָטוֹס: ”אִם כֵּן, אַתָּה מֶלֶךְ!“ עָנָה יֵשׁוּעַ: ”אַתָּה אוֹמֵר שֶׁאֲנִי מֶלֶךְ; לְכָךְ אֲנִי נוֹלַדְתִּי וּלְשֵׁם כָּךְ בָּאתִי לָעוֹלָם, כְּדֵי שֶׁאָעִיד עַל הָאֱמֶת. כָּל אֲשֶׁר הוּא מִן הָאֱמֶת שׁוֹמֵע לְקוֹלִי.“ 

Acts 13:32‏ וַאֲנַחְנוּ מְבַשְׂרִים לָכֶם כִּי הַהַבְטָחָה אֲשֶׁר הֻבְטְחָה לַאֲבוֹתֵינוּ,  ‎33‏ אֱלֹהִים קִיֵּם אוֹתָהּ לָנוּ, הַבָּנִים, בַּהֲקִימוֹ אֶת יֵשׁוּעַ, כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב בַּמִּזְמוֹר הַשֵּׁנִי: ’בְּנִי אַתָּה, אֲנִי הַיּוֹם יְלִדְתִּיךָ.‘

‎34‏ וְעַל הֲקִימוֹ אוֹתוֹ מִן הַמֵּתִים לְבִלְתִּי שׁוּב עוֹד אֶל שַׁחַת, כֹּה אָמַר: 

’אֶתֵּן לָכֶם חַסְדֵי דָּוִד הַנֶּאֱמָנִים.‘ 

Heb. 2:10 אָכֵן הוּא אֲשֶׁר הַכֹּל לְמַעֲנוֹ וְהַכֹּל עַל־יָדָיו יָאֶה הָיָה לוֹ, בַּהֲבִיאוֹ בָּנִים רַבִּים לְכָבוֹד, לְהַשְׁלִים עַל־יְדֵי סֵבֶל אֶת מְכוֹנֵן יְשׁוּעָתָם.

Rev. 1:5 וּמֵאֵת יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ הָעֵד הַנֶּאֱמָן, בְּכוֹר הַמֵּתִים וְעֶלְיוֹן לְמַלְכֵי הָאָרֶץ. לָאוֹהֵב אוֹתָנוּ אֲשֶׁר בְּדָמוֹ שִׁחְרֵר אוֹתָנוּ מֵחֲטָאֵינוּ
