My Shepherd

עֲמִיתִ֔י (⁽amītī) 

The Shepherd 

הָֽרֹעֶה֙ (hārōeh)

“‘Awake, O sword, against 

My Shepherd, 

and against the man, 

My Associate,’ 

declares the LORD of hosts. 

‘Strike 

the Shepherd 

that the sheep may be scattered; 

and I will turn My hand against the little ones’” 

(Zech. 13:7).

חֶ֗רֶב עוּרִ֤י עַל־רֹעִי֙ וְעַל־גֶּ֣בֶר עֲמִיתִ֔י נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת הַ֤ךְ אֶת־הָֽרֹעֶה֙ וּתְפוּצֶ֣יןָ הַצֹּ֔אן וַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֥י יָדִ֖י עַל־הַצֹּעֲרִֽים׃

“Like a shepherd He will tend His flock, in His arm He will gather the lambs and carry them in His bosom; He will gently lead the nursing ewes” (Isa. 40:11).

“Surely our griefs He Himself bore, and our sorrows He carried; yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed” (Isa. 53:4-5).

“But the LORD was pleased to crush Him, putting Him to grief; if He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, and the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand” (Isa. 53:10).

“But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity” (Mic. 5:2).

“Then Jesus  said to them, ‘You will all fall away because of Me this night, for it is written, “I WILL STRIKE DOWN THE SHEPHERD, AND THE SHEEP OF THE FLOCK SHALL BE SCATTERED.” But after I have been raised, I will go ahead of you to Galilee’” (Matt. 26:31-32).

“And Jesus  said to them, ‘You will all fall away, because it is written, “I WILL STRIKE DOWN THE SHEPHERD, AND THE SHEEP SHALL BE SCATTERED.” But after I have been raised, I will go ahead of you to Galilee’” (Mark 14:27-28).

“Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen” (Heb. 13:20-21).

(Isa. 40:11 (BHS כְּרֹעֶה֙ עֶדְר֣וֹ יִרְעֶ֔ה בִּזְרֹעוֹ֙ יְקַבֵּ֣ץ טְלָאִ֔ים וּבְחֵיק֖וֹ יִשָּׂ֑א עָל֖וֹת יְנַהֵֽל׃ ס

Isa. 53:4 אָכֵ֤ן חֳלָיֵ֙נוּ֙ ה֣וּא נָשָׂ֔א וּמַכְאֹבֵ֖ינוּ סְבָלָ֑ם וַאֲנַ֣חְנוּ חֲשַׁבְנֻ֔הוּ נָג֛וּעַ מֻכֵּ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים וּמְעֻנֶּֽה׃ 5 וְהוּא֙ מְחֹלָ֣ל מִפְּשָׁעֵ֔נוּ מְדֻכָּ֖א מֵעֲוֹנֹתֵ֑ינוּ מוּסַ֤ר שְׁלוֹמֵ֙נוּ֙ עָלָ֔יו וּבַחֲבֻרָת֖וֹ נִרְפָּא־לָֽנוּ׃

Isa. 53:10 וַיהוָ֞ה חָפֵ֤ץ דַּכְּאוֹ֙ הֶֽחֱלִ֔י אִם־תָּשִׂ֤ים אָשָׁם֙ נַפְשׁ֔וֹ יִרְאֶ֥ה זֶ֖רַע יַאֲרִ֣יךְ יָמִ֑ים וְחֵ֥פֶץ יְהוָ֖ה בְּיָד֥וֹ יִצְלָֽח׃

Mic. 5:1 וְאַתָּ֞ה בֵּֽית־לֶ֣חֶם אֶפְרָ֗תָה צָעִיר֙ לִֽהְיוֹת֙ בְּאַלְפֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה מִמְּךָ֙ לִ֣י יֵצֵ֔א לִֽהְי֥וֹת מוֹשֵׁ֖ל בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וּמוֹצָאֹתָ֥יו מִקֶּ֖דֶם מִימֵ֥י עוֹלָֽם׃

(Matt. 26:31-32 (MHNT אָמַר לָהֶם יֵשׁוּעַ: ”אַתֶּם כֻּלְּכֶם תִּכָּשְׁלוּ בִּגְלָלִי הַלַּיְלָה, שֶׁהֲרֵי כָּתוּב, ’אַכֶּה אֶת־הָרֹעֶה וּתְפוּצֶין הַצֹּאן.‘  32 אֲבָל אַחֲרֵי שֶׁאָקוּם אֵלֵךְ לִפְנֵיכֶם לַגָּלִיל.“ 

Mark 14:27-28 אָמַר לָהֶם יֵשׁוּעַ: ”כֻּלְּכֶם תִּכָּשְׁלוּ, שֶׁהֲרֵי כָּתוּב, ’אַכֶּה אֶת־הָרֹעֶה וּתְפוּצֶיןָ הַצֹּאן,‘  28 אֲבָל אַחֲרֵי שֶׁאָקוּם אֵלֵךְ לִפְנֵיכֶם לַגָּלִיל.“

Heb. 13:20-21 וֵאלֹהֵי הַשָּׁלוֹם אֲשֶׁר בְּדַם בְּרִית עוֹלָם הֶעֱלָה מִן הַמֵּתִים אֶת רוֹעֵה הַצֹּאן הַגָּדוֹל, אֶת אֲדוֹנֵנוּ יֵשׁוּעַ,  21 הוּא יַכְשִׁיר אֶתְכֶם לְכָל דָּבָר טוֹב כְּדֵי שֶׁתַּעֲשׂוּ אֶת רְצוֹנוֹ, בְּפָעֳלוֹ בָּכֶם אֶת הָרָצוּי לְפָנָיו בְּיַד יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ, אֲשֶׁר לוֹ הַכָּבוֹד לְעוֹלְמֵי עוֹלָמִים. אָמֵן.
