Stone Rejected (אֶבֶן מָאֲס֣וּ) (⁾even ma⁾asu)

to Chief Corner Stone (לְרֹ֣אשׁ פִּנָּֽה) (lero⁾sh pinna)

The stone which the builders rejected 

Has become the chief corner stone. (Ps. 118:22)

אֶבֶן מָאֲס֣וּ הַבּוֹנִ֑ים הָ֝יְתָ֗ה לְרֹ֣אשׁ פִּנָּֽה׃ (Ps. 118:22)

• “Jesus  said to them, ‘Did you never read in the Scriptures, 

“THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, 

THIS BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone; 

THIS CAME ABOUT FROM THE LORD, 

AND IT IS MARVELOUS IN OUR EYES”?’“ (Matt 21:42)

Matt. 21:42 אָמַר לָהֶם יֵשׁוּעַ: ”הַאִם לֹא קְרָאתֶם בַּכְּתוּבִים, ’אֶבֶן מָאֲסוּ הַבּוֹנִים הָיְתָה לְרֹאשׁ פִּנָּה; מֵאֵת יְהוָה הָיְתָה זֹּאת, הִיא נִפְלָאת בְּעֵינֵינוּ‘? 

  

          

• “He is the STONE WHICH WAS REJECTED by you, THE BUILDERS, but WHICH BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone.“ (Acts 4:11)

Acts 4:11 הוּא הָאֶבֶן שֶׁמְּאַסְתֶּם, אַתֶּם הַבּוֹנִים, אֲשֶׁר הָיְתָה לְרֹאשׁ פִּנָּה. 

• “So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.” (Eph. 2:19-22)

Eph. 2:19‏ לָכֵן אֵינְכֶם עוֹד זָרִים אוֹ תּוֹשָׁבִים נָכְרִים, אֶלָּא בְּנֵי עִירָם שֶׁל הַקְּדוֹשִׁים וּבְנֵי בֵּית אֱלֹהִים;  ‎20‏ בְּנוּיִים עַל יְסוֹד הַשְּׁלִיחִים וְהַנְּבִיאִים, וְהַמָּשִׁיחַ יֵשׁוּעַ עַצְמוֹ הוּא אֶבֶן הַפִּנָּה.  ‎21‏ בּוֹ כָּל הַבִּנְיָן מְחֻבָּר יַחַד וְגָדֵל לִהְיוֹת הֵיכַל קֹדֶשׁ לַיהוה;  ‎22‏ וּבוֹ גַּם אַתֶּם נִבְנִים יַחְדָּיו לִהְיוֹת מִשְׁכַּן אֱלֹהִים עַל־יְדֵי הָרוּחַ. 

• And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God,  5 you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For this is contained in Scripture: “BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A CHOICE STONE, A PRECIOUS CORNER stone, AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.” This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for those who disbelieve, “THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE VERY CORNER stone,” and, “A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE”;for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also appointed. But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;  for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD; you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY. (1Pet. 2:4-10)

1Pet. 2:4‏ אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם נִגָּשִׁים אֵלָיו — אֶבֶן חַיָּה שֶׁמְּאָסוּהָ בְּנֵי אָדָם, אַךְ נִבְחָרָה וִיקָרָה לֵאלֹהִים.  ‎5‏ וְגַם אַתֶּם, כַּאֲבָנִים חַיּוֹת, נִבְנִים לְבַיִת רוּחָנִי, לִכְהֻנַּת קֹדֶשׁ, כְּדֵי לְהַעֲלוֹת זִבְחֵי רוּחַ רְצוּיִים לֵאלֹהִים בִּזְכוּת יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ.  ‎6‏ מִשּׁוּם כָּךְ אוֹמֵר הַכָּתוּב: ”הִנְנִי יִסַּד בְּצִיּוֹן אֶבֶן פִּנָּה נִבְחָרָה וִיקָרָה, וְהַמַּאֲמִין בָּהּ לֹא יֵבוֹשׁ.“  ‎7‏ עַל כֵּן לָכֶם הַמַּאֲמִינִים הִיא אֶבֶן הַיְּקָר, אֲבָל לַסּוֹרְרִים — ”אֶבֶן מָאֲסוּ הַבּוֹנִים הָיְתָה לְרֹאשׁ פִּנָּה“,  ‎8‏ וְגַם ”אֶבֶן נֶגֶף וְצוּר מִכְשׁוֹל.“ וְאָמְנָם הֵם נִכְשָׁלִים בַּדָּבָר בִּגְלַל סַרְבָנוּתָם, וּלְכָךְ גַּם נוֹעֲדוּ. 

‎1Pet. 2:9‏ אֲבָל אַתֶּם עַם נִבְחָר, מַמְלֶכֶת כֹּהֲנִים וְגוֹי קָדוֹשׁ, עַם סְגֻלָּה, לְמַעַן תְּסַפְּרוּ תְּהִלּוֹתָיו שֶׁל הַקּוֹרֵא אֶתְכֶם מֵחֹשֶׁךְ אֶל אוֹרוֹ הַנִּפְלָא;  ‎10‏ אַתֶּם אֲשֶׁר לְפָנִים לֹא עַם הֱיִיתֶם, אַךְ כָּעֵת עַם אֱלֹהִים אַתֶּם; אֲשֶׁר לְפָנִים לֹא רֻחֲמוּ, אַךְ כָּעֵת מְרֻחָמִים.
