Afflicted 

(ענִי)(⁽ani)

“May they be  blotted out of the  book of life 

And may they not be recorded with the righteous. 

But I am afflicted and in pain; 

May Your salvation, O God, 

set me securely on high.”  

(Ps. 69:28-29)

 יִ֭מָּחֽוּ מִסֵּ֣פֶר חַיִּ֑ים וְעִ֥ם צַ֝דִּיקִ֗ים אַל־יִכָּתֵֽבוּ׃  וַ֭אֲנִי עָנִ֣י וְכוֹאֵ֑ב יְשׁוּעָתְךָ֖ אֱלֹהִ֣ים תְּשַׂגְּבֵֽנִי׃

“He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.” 

(Rev. 3:5)

(Rev. 3:5 (MHNT הַמְנַצֵּחַ יִלְבַּשׁ בְּגָדִים לְבָנִים וְלֹא אֶמְחֶה אֶת שְׁמוֹ מִסֵּפֶר הַחַיִּים, וְאוֹדֶה אֶת שְׁמוֹ לִפְנֵי אָבִי וְלִפְנֵי מַלְאָכָיו. 

“Indeed, true companion, I ask you also to help these women who have shared my struggle in the cause of the gospel, together with Clement also and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.”

Phil. 4:3 וְאַתָּה, חֲבֵרִי הָאֲמִתִּי, הַנּוֹשֵׂא עִמִּי בָּעֹל, גַּם מִמְּךָ אֲנִי מְבַקֵּשׁ: עֲזֹר נָא לָהֶן; הֵן הִשְׁתַּתְּפוּ עִמִּי בְּמַאֲבַק הַבְּשׂוֹרָה, יַחַד עִם קְלֵמֶנְטוֹס וְעִם יֶתֶר שֻׁתָּפַי לָעֲבוֹדָה אֲשֶׁר שְׁמוֹתֵיהֶם בְּסֵפֶר הַחַיִּים. 

“All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain.” 

(Rev. 13:8)

Rev. 13:8 וְיִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לָהּ כָּל יוֹשְׁבֵי הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר לֹא נִכְתְּבוּ שְׁמוֹתֵיהֶם בְּסֵפֶר הַחַיִּים שֶׁל הַשֶׂה הַטָּבוּחַ מֵהִוָּסֵד תֵּבֵל. 

“The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and go to destruction. And those who dwell on the earth, whose name has not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will wonder when they see the beast, that he was and is not and will come.” 

(Rev. 17:8)

Rev. 17:8 הַחַיָּה אֲשֶׁר רָאִיתָ — הָיְתָה וְאֵינֶנָּה, וְהִיא עֲתִידָה לַעֲלוֹת מִן הַתְּהוֹם וְלָלֶכֶת לָאֲבַדּוֹן. וְיוֹשְׁבֵי הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר שְׁמָם לֹא נִכְתַּב בְּסֵפֶר הַחַיִּים מֵעֵת הִוָּסֵד תֵּבֵל יִשְׁתּוֹמְמוּ כִּרְאוֹתָם אֶת הַחַיָּה שֶׁהָיְתָה וְאֵינֶנָּה וַעֲתִידָה לָבוֹא. 

“And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” 

(Rev. 20:15)

Rev. 20:15 וּמִי שֶׁלֹּא נִמְצָא כָּתוּב בְּסֵפֶר הַחַיִּים, הֻשְׁלַךְ אֶל אֲגַם הָאֵשׁ. 

“Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.” 

(Luke 10:20)

Luke 10:20 וּבְכָל זֹאת אַל תִּשְׂמְחוּ עַל שֶׁהָרוּחוֹת נִכְנָעוֹת לָכֶם; שִׂמְחוּ עַל כָּךְ שֶׁשְּׁמוֹתֵיכֶם נִכְתְּבוּ בַּשָּׁמַיִם.“ 

“to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect”

Heb. 12:23 אֶל קְהִלַּת הַבְּכוֹרִים הַכְּתוּבִים בַּשָּׁמַיִם, אֶל אֱלֹהִים שׁוֹפֵט הַכֹּל, אֶל רוּחוֹת הַצַּדִּיקִים שֶׁנַּעֲשׂוּ מֻשְׁלָמִים,
