Forsaken עֲזַבְתָּ (⁽azavta)

“My God, my God, 

why have You forsaken me?

Far from my deliverance 

are the words of my groaning.” 

(Ps. 22:1)

אֵלִ֣י אֵ֭לִי לָמָ֣ה עֲזַבְתָּ֑נִי רָח֥וֹק מִֽ֝ישׁוּעָתִ֗י דִּבְרֵ֥י שַׁאֲגָתִֽי׃ 

“About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, ‘ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?’ that is, ‘MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?’ 

(Matt. 27:46)

(Matt. 27:46 (MHNT וּבְעֶרֶךְ בְּשָׁעָה שָׁלוֹשׁ צָעַק יֵשׁוּעַ בְּקוֹל גָּדוֹל: ”אֵלִי, אֵלִי, לְמָה שְׁבַקְתָּנִי?“ כְּלוֹמַר, ”אֵלִי, אֵלִי, לָמָה עֲזַבְתָּנִי?“

Mark 15:34 וּבְשָׁעָה שָׁלוֹשׁ צָעַק יֵשׁוּעַ בְּקוֹל גָּדוֹל: ”אֱלָהִי, אֱלָהִי, לְמָה שְׁבַקְתָּנִי?“ שֶׁתַּרְגּוּמוֹ ”אֵלִי, אֵלִי, לָמָה עֲזַבְתָּנִי?“ 

“As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries, seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.”

1Pet. 1:10 אֶת הַיְשׁוּעָה הַזֹּאת חָקְרוּ וְדָרְשׁוּ הַנְּבִיאִים שֶׁנִּבְּאוּ עַל הַחֶסֶד הַמְיֻעָד לָכֶם.  11 הֵם חָקְרוּ מָה הָעֵת וְהַנְּסִבּוֹת שֶׁהוֹדִיעָה רוּחַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ אֲשֶׁר בְּקִרְבָּם, כְּשֶׁהֵעִידָה מֵרֹאשׁ עַל סִבְלוֹת הַמָּשִׁיחַ וְעַל הַכָּבוֹד וְהַתִּפְאֶרֶת שֶׁיָּבוֹאוּ אַחֲרֵיהֶן.
